Dead Bookmark Checker

Links rot. Drop in your bookmarks file and see which ones no longer work. Free, no sign-up, and your file never leaves your browser.

How to use it

  1. Export your bookmarks from your browser (Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+O, ⋮ menu, Export bookmarks).
  2. Drop the file above. Supports .html, .csv and .json exports.
  3. Download the list of broken links, or tidy the rest in Bukmarkz, which sorts and searches them by meaning.

Questions

How do I find broken bookmarks in Chrome?

Chrome has no built-in checker. Export your bookmarks (Bookmark manager, ⋮ menu, Export bookmarks), upload the HTML file here, and the tool checks every link.

Is my bookmarks file stored?

No. Your file is read in your browser. Only the web addresses are sent to our server to be checked, and they are not saved.

Why does a link show as "blocked"?

Some sites, like LinkedIn and many news sites, refuse automated visits even though the page works for you. Open those by hand.

How many links can I check?

Up to 2,000 links per file here. Bukmarkz Pro checks your whole vault automatically.
